I love the look on my daughters face when someone comments on my rainbow, she is so proud. I have to say you are a brave women to wear the braids, I haven't been that good of a mom lol.
LOL Pretty Penny! Also, Toni, you must looks very pretty with your rainbow fingernails My young niece once braided my hair into about 50 braids. I think it looked really different but I went out with it like that and did feel kind of proud that my niece was so industrious. We even went to the top of the Empire State Building that day and have some photos. Now I can say "She did my hair that day!" if anyone asks why I am a huge mess of braids, LOL
I am pretty much simple and plain with both my clothing and makeup; my nails are the one thing I like to be daring with. I have sported bright green even, my daughters like to play beauty shop and of course I have to get a manicure. I have gone out in public with a different color on each nail and my girls can say with pride, “I did it!!”
My step mother has done that as long as I can remember. She uses a darker shade on her toes because she says it minimizes what she perceives as thick nails. I usually match mine though, I'm too anal not to, lol.
I've been doing the same thing for a few years now..I love a darker color on my toes and nudes and pinks on my hands. In fact, it's not the norm anymore to match your toes and nails...just like you don't have to match your shoes and handbag...anything goes today.
I don't think thats weird at all, I do the same thing my toes are always a lot darker and bolder colors then my fingernails. I love a dark blue on my toes and natural, soft color on my fingers.
Is it weird to have your toes painted one color and your nails another?
I like to paint my toes darker shades of red, wine, burgundy, you catch my drift, but I do not like to paint my fingernails dark colors. I prefer a light gloss so they looks as natural as possible. Is that ok or am I making a beauty no-no??
I am an older gal too and I really like the pastel colors much better. I am not into the metallic bright colors or the blue, green or yellow. Every once in a while a nice red looks great.
Definetly has happened to me. I like berries, wines, hot pinks and the occasionaly light pink. I also like to walk on the wild side every now and then or match my polish to the occasion. When I went to the last concert I used a color called silver slipper which of course was siver with silver glitter all in it. It was perfect. My daughter also played softball and the colors were teal and black, so I bought a color that was close to teal and wore it with my school t-shirt, I wasn't real happy with the color. That is why I just had to ask how everyone felt about different colors. No loss here though, my ten year old will take anything I don't use.
Me, too, Jenna, I'm a red girl. I also like a nice flesh tone for a change. I used to be more adventurous, but then I got older.
By the way -- I got what I was sure was a lovely deep red the other day at CVS. Then I got home and out it on and it was pinkish. I thought, okay, it's thinner, so it'll take a few coats. Nope, deep red in the bottle, hot pink on the nails. Anyone else have that happen. I was shocked because the difference was pretty dramatic.
Normally, I'm strictly a red - rose - wine kinda girl, considering my skin tone and all, but we went to a costume party recently where I wore a green and gold kimono and hair sticks - I went as a Japanese courtier. So I decided on a whim to go with a delicate, pale green polish as something different. I'd hoped for something a little darker, thinking it would not only go better with my skin but with the outfit, but I was surprised with how good the green looked and I had plenty of compliments.
I think as an occasional change, going wild can be fun!
My pallette for clothes tends to be neutrals and muted colors such as peach, sage, amber and other soft shades. As such my nail shades tend to be natural or only lightly tinted. I never liked bold looks, there is nothing wrong with them, just not me.
