She came over from Sicily when she was 18, her mom's name was Palma Santucci. Grammy's name was Maria Leonarda Santucci--how Italian is THAT?? lol I'm sure it was something cultiral/regional, peasant skin care type thing.

I just wash my face at night too. No goop here either. My face just does not feel clean if I put lotion on it.

I don't use a night cream. I cleanse my face before bed, but nothing else.

I honestly never use anything on my face at night.  I guess I just don't like going to bed with goop on my face!  :^O  I like to give my face nice gentle scrubbing before bed though.  There is nothing worse than going to bed with a greasy feeling on your face, you know?  I try using a facial wash rather than soap, especially now in the colder months, when dry skin is at it's worst!

I have tired to use something at night and it makes my face feel like oil is just puddling up on my face. I end up washing it all off. I would really like something without that feeling.

>One of my earliest memories of my grandmother was of her using night cream and really smearing it on. As a child, it always just felt greasy and sticky to me, but I got the feeling it was somehow magical and when I was older, I would understand the secret.

I still hate any moisturizer or cream that feels in the slightest bit greasy. YUCK! <

I think your grandmother was related to my grandmother. :^O

Oh my Beauty, you could get some great exercise if you used the bacon grease. Think of all the running you would be doing.....the motivation of it all. A walk in the neighborhood would turn into a tree climbing mad dash. Don't forget to take your cell with you so you can call the fire dept to rescue you from the tree. The stories they will have to tell their grandkids. Bacon grease doesn't sound like a half bad idea.......as long as it isn't me, the dogs would catch me before I could even think to run lol.

My grandmother used a similar combo, but instead of bacon grease, she used Crisco. I don't think I could use bacon grease either, I have dogs, they'd be all over me! LOL

I bet she smelled delicious too, Donna?  LOL!  ;)  I don't think I would use bacon grease personally, but it does make me wonder, was it the Ponds or the grease that worked the magic?  Was it the combination or is there something in the grease that helped?  I'm curious also as to how she came up with using grease in the first place?  :-D

Well, here's a tip I'm sure no one will ever use, lol. My little Sicilian grammy used to mix Ponds (she swore by it) with bacon grease and used it as a body cream. She alwasy left an outline in my bed when she slept over, but she had skin like my children, firm, soft and line-free till the day she passed at 73.

That sounds like something I would like Zen. I don't like that greasy feeling either and could use a night cream.

I use a hydrating night cream from Neutrogena. It doesn't seem greasy to me. I just have a lot of contact allergy issues and their products have always worked for me.

Hi - The Roc products are wonderful.  They are not greasy.  A bit on the pricey side though.

Anyone try these on a regular basis?  I've always been curious about how effective they are, but I can't get the vision of goopy stuff all over my face!  Now that I've noticed a few (ahem) "lines" on my face, I'm starting to consider looking into this option to battle them.  Thoughts?  Suggestions?  :)
