I have used the hair spray trick when I have had a wild eyebrow....you know you sleep really good and get up and one eyebrow is just poking out all over :^O. It works.

I've heard of the hairsprayed eyebrows before, but I've never tried it. Has anyone tried this one? I just keep picturing stiff eyebrows. It would be MY luck, the spray wouldn't totally be dry, I'd walk out side, the wind would blow and I'd have "wind blown" eyebrows all day! LOL

I found a cheap but effective deoderant. I had several cysts and was  unable to use commercial deoderants or it would make matters worse. So I tried some combinations of stuff, and the thing that worked the best is a combination of talcum powder with baking soda. It works so well and is so economical that I never went back to anything else. And that was over four years ago.

Ok, I got one:  did you know you can use hairspray to keep your eyebrows in perfect shape?  Just spray a little on your eyebrow brush and your eyebrows will stay non-bushy and lovely all day!  Always spray it on the brush first, never towards your eyes!   :)

Lit matches as eyeliner?? Eeeeeek!  I wonder how that works?  I'll tell you what though, there is no way anyone is coming near my eyes with fire! lolol

I really like using witch hazel too. It is so gentle on your skin and does a great job.

When I was little my mom made a big pot of oatmeal every other day. She always set aside a small bowl to use as a mask. She mixed it with honey, or an egg white if we could spare the egg. Her very fair skin has remained flawless to this day. She doesn't like her freckles, but I think she is gorgeous. Even more, she gave me a practical example of self-care regardless of economic circumstances.

Hi Debbie =]

I have actually heard of that, my roomate uses the dried oats with honey and applies it to her face as a mask. Apparently oats and honey are very good for your skin. Another use for honey: healing scars. My boyfriend got into a motorcycle accident and his hands were raw basically. He applied "RAW HONEY" (it has to be the raw because it has all the essentials for healing scars) and he has no scar at all. It stung a lot but it's a natural healing product which worked extremely well.

I read in a magazine that make-up artists use already-been-lit matches as eyeliner for models...that sounds a little dangerous to me tho...

Hi Deb-

Welcome to our group, everyone here is great and I am sure you will feel as at home as I do here. I think you might be interested in checking out the Beauty Tips & Trends forum also.

I am wondering if you use the vaseline all over your face or just for eye makeup? The oatmeal, do you add that to something or just a bit of water?

Inexpensive beauty tips

Hi, I'm Debbie and I'm new to this board. I believe in using everyday household items that double as beauty products. for example, for skin toner I use witch hazel, I use vaseline as makeup remover and oatmeal as an exfoliant. This way I can spend the money on decent cosmetics like avon and clinique. The four items I must have at all times are clinique mascara and pressed powder and avon eye cream and lip gloss.
