My hubby has this problem, his is triggered by an allergic reaction to fiberglass insulation. He works around it so he has no choice but to deal with it and when it gets hotter is when it happens the most.
The doctor has given him creams to control it. He was also told to use selsun blue to bathe with, you can also use the intensive treatment head and shoulders in the blue bottle. Since some of it is around your eyes you will probably need to see a doctor about it.
I also buy him mens products like nivea and neutrogena to use.
You may want to check your mattress also, skin cells and dust-mites build up in the mattress and can cause allergies. Vacuuming the mattress and using a hypoallergenic cover can help.
Also, as a real long shot, because they report that bedbugs are becoming prominent again, check the seams of your mattress for little red insects, if you have a pillow-top, check under there as well. (They can migrate in a multi-occupant location, like an apartment building)
I have had a similar issue and did go to the doctor myself. They ended up doing an allergy test right on my back, to find out what I was actually allergic too. I ended up being allergic to dust. Never thought that was possible. Well she did give me a prescription for two different steroid creams one for the face and one for the rest of my body. Within a day of using it I seen an immediate improvement, with no side effects. But that was my result, yours could be something completely different, so really the only way to find out what you have is by getting your doctor to figure it out. Good Luck
The solution here i think is your bed sheets and duvet covers. You may be allegic to something in the soap. Change to organic, hypo-allergenic (easy to find at Walmart or Whole Foods) and hopefully this will help. If not visit a dermatologist and she'll prescribe something. Remember-stress can always factor in!
Sometimes I break out in hives too. For sure see a doctor first thing and he can find out what is going on. What does help me is a cool shower if I get them all over and ice does wonders if I have them in a small spot. Ice takes away the itching, heat and swelling. Be sure to talk with your doctor as it may be a reaction to something you are coming in contact with. Good luck and let us know how it works out.
I would also suggest considering a trip to the allergist as well. If this in reaction to an allergy, sometimes it's best to discover what your allergies are so you can take steps.
Both men and women should see an allergist if they suspect their skin may be an allergic reaction to something.
I have to agree that you need to check with your doctor and perhaps he/she will either find a solution or send you to a dermatologist or allergist
I struggle with a similar condition called lichen planus that also broke out on the inside of my mouth. Once it was determined exactly what it was, it was easy to control, but the first step is knowing. There are many reasons for such rashes and if it's chronic you need to find out exactly what you are dealing with.
I agree with BellasMom - a visit to a dermatologist might be in order here. My daughter had a similar problem and ended up needing to take antibiotics for a short time until it cleared up. I like to give the same advice to men, although sometimes they balk when I suggest it because I think alot of men think of a dermatologist as something a "woman goes to." Of course this isn't the case whatsoever! Good luck to you!
Hi Sweetie, Try an over-the-counter oral antihistamine; it could be an allergic reaction to food, the environment or something that touches your skin. But if its something that is persistent you may want to seek advice from a dermatologist. Good Luck! Keep as informed of your progress.
I can't say that I've heard of a specific condition like what you're describing, but what kind of ointment are you using? Benedryl? Or some kind of anti-itch cream?
Also, can you pinpoint anything that might be triggering the skin condition? Sometimes people develop sensitivities to things without realizing, like laundry soap. Your hives sound a lot like my reaction to laundry soaps with dyes or perfumes in them.
I would suggest, if you live near the ocean, try going for a swim in the salt water to help it dry out, or if you can get a hold of some oatmeal wash, that might help soothe your skin.
Looking for some help, please. I have this skin problem that appears on occasion. I break out in what I can only describe as hives; they are really itchy and have a stinging and burning sensation. They look like raised red bumps on my skin and usually show up under my eyes and inside my elbows and knees. But they only seem to be really bad early in the morning and late at night. I have tried some over the counter ointment but they really don’t give me any relief. Has anyone out here had this same or similar problem, and what did you try? At this point I am willing to try anything. Thanks.
