I don't remember where I got it from, it started somewhere in the history of my childhood family. But we fill Christmas stockings with sample size products. The first Christmas we spent with my husband's family, they were all enchanted, and now the tradition has spread!

Can you get samples of perfumes in the stores?? There are a couple that I THINK I like, but I'm with everyone else, I'd sure like to wear it a couple times and make SURE. My husband also has a problem with some perfumes that he ends up sneezing nonstop!

I agree that getting scent samples are important. Scents smell differently on different people, due to body chemistry. Just smelling it from the bottle will not tell you what it will smell like on you.

I get alot of samples from department stores.  I agree with Simply about perfumes; there are so yummy scents out there but cost like $40 for a 3 oz bottle!  For that price I want to make sure it smells good on me before I buy it, know what I mean?  Just sniffing it from the bottle isn't good enough - I need to wear it for a few hours to see if it suits me and how long it lasts.  That's why samples are my best friend! lol

I am a sample hog. I try as many as I can get lol. I have saved so much by trying a sample first and not wasting money on products that don't work or I don't like. But I have also found new items that I can't live without now.

I know what you mean. Samples are a great way to avoid wasted expense. I'm picky about shampoos, I hate heavy feeling hair, adn I hate spending the prices they ask then finding out I might as well have shampooed with Crisco.

I love samples. If it was not for samples I would not be using half the stuff I use now. My favorite are samples of make-up.

What a wonderful idea for stocking stuffers! I need to start searching the internet for freebies! What's the best free sample you've ever gotten?

I liked the sample of eye cream from este lauder I found.  I don't know how well it works just from the sample but it left my eye area feeling awesome.

I understand the gift angel, I have sent off for and recieved the gillette razors with the trimmers on them, small bottles of mens body was, perfume samples, was able to get a free pair of earrings for christmas for my daughter just by registering on a site.  they are really cute.  Thats not counting the clothes detergent, shampoo, anti wrinkle creams, etc. that I have recieved.  I have some nice little stocking stuffers saved up.

I love samples! I send away for many in the mail. It is fun! I love the perfume samples, too. Nothing is worse then spending a fortune on a bottle, and then realizing it smells very different after an hour on your skin!

Don't you just love the samples?  :)  I really do; they help me out alot actually, as now is the time I start making my gift lists out for family and friends for the holidays.   My mom and a close friend of mine are "scent-aholics" so usually get a nice bottle of a new perfume as a gift and the samples help out alot.   I know there are other samples besides perfumes, which is great because the gift of beauty if something all of the ladies can appreciate!  :)

I'm obviously going the gift-angle here, don't mind me! LOL!  What samples in the mags have you found that stand out?

The October issue of Allure has quite a few samples in it, and the Cosmo has one that I have found.  I guess with the change of seasons some companies are trying to get their products noticed.
