Has anyone tried the new Neutrogena Acne Kit yet? They say it is better than the Proactive. I would love to hear some reviews.

Tea tree oil is great, but some people may react negatively to it.  You want a product with a few acne fighters but ingredients that will also continue to replensish the moisture in your skin.  Wrinkles are caused by lack of moisture. Many of the acne meds will take the moisture out by taking the oil out.  I just made a new daily cleanser that has all the right ingredients in it.  You can look them up on the internet and see how important they are to healthy skin.  Also, check out www.cosmeticdatabase.com to check out how safe the products you are using really are.... it's scary what chemicals are hiding in your everyday products.

If you are comfortable with buying over the internet, you can purchase tea tree oil there. I have found it in most drugstores. At least in my area. Just ask a clerk, if you can't find it.

As far as young athletes breaking out...he may want to just try cleansing with something like Clearasil pads in the morning, before and after workouts and in the evening. He can carry them to school. If that doesn't help, I would say it is hormonal (and stress) and a dose of antibiotics (short term) should help.

I'm still on the hunt for some and hope to get up to the city within the month to look at the health food store.

Hi Ladies,

I just want to say that I love how everyone tries to help each other out in here. I happened upon some tea tree oil at the drug store a few weeks ago and forgot that I was going to pick it up. It was a small bottle with a dropper and I am going to start adding some to our body wash and shampoo bottles. Thanks for jogging my memory, it needed a bit of exercise. ]:)

Yes, tea tree oil is great for acne and is an AWESOME mold killer, among many other things. The only places I have ever seen it is online or the health foods store. It is pricey at the health foods store, about $20 for an ounce. You may want to try eBay or Amazon to check out a lower price.

I'd love to try the tea tree oil too but I have not seen it in the store. Would it be in a health food store or vitamin place?

Where can you get tea tree oil? Do you just dab it on after you have washed your face? I am going to pick some up for my grandson and see if this helps too.

Tea tree oil is great for a lot of things. It helps prevent infection in cuts, and has even tackled an ear infection or two. I bet it would be great on acne!

My 14 year old son is still having trouble with acne; he has it on his upper back and his face has broken out.  He's an athelete and he gets all smelly and sweaty every time he goes to practice, so it's an everyday battle to keep his skin clean.  I really can't afford Proactiv or any of those kits.  I was doing some reading and alot of people recommend giving tea tree oil a try.  It kills the bacteria that causes acne.  I might give it a shot!

We tried Pro-Activ for my son and his face just got worse. I sent it back and got our money back. We ended up going to the doctor and his face is really clearing up. Stress can be a big factor in breaking out. Hope it clears up soon for him.

My niece achieved great results by using Proactive.  She still uses it to maintain good skin.

Acne Treatment Kits

Good evening, one and all!

I need some feedback from you all on the increasing number of acne treatment kits available on the market. Things like Pro-Activ, Neutrogena's, L'Oreal's, etc... programs to treat ongoing, adult acne problems.

Hubby is experiencing, despite washing his dear face twice a day with a cream cleanser containing salicylic acid ( that's the active ingredient in most basic acne-fighting skin care products ) a rise in his acne. Granted, some of it is stress; little to none of it is his diet. Needless to say, we want to treat it without going to a dermatologist, so we thought we'd give the treatment program boxes a shot.

Any recommendations? Any definite no-gos? I'd like to hear it all!

Thanks!
