Trying different colors in make up
Oct 23, 2008

After reading some of the blogs here I have been trying to add different colors to my makeup collection.  I can say that black liner is here to stay for me, I just don't like the different colors I have tried.

I went to the Dollar Tree the yesterday and they had some Maybelline New York blush.  I saw one that I kinda liked so I bought it.  It was a color I would have never spent full price on.  I used it this morning and LOVED it.  I couldn't believe the difference it made.  I went back today and bought 2 more of the same shade.  I would've bought more, but they had sold out.  I guess this taught me a lesson about looking more closely at the colors and giving ones I wouldn't think twice about a chance.  But can you believe 3 things of blush for 3.00.

Sticking to a routine
Jul 30, 2008

I have found that sticking to a routine can really be a challenge when you have other things going on in your life.  With the move and all walking has really taken a backseat.  The thought of gaining back that weight bothers me constantly. I thought of bike riding all day today, but it took my kids getting on my nerves to push me out the door to do it and then it was more to calm down than anything.

I have also been skipping the nightly ritual of anti wrinkle cream. Which is not a good thing either.

Everytime I skip a night of walking I think about these 2 older ladies who walk everyday rain, sleet or snow.  They have been doing this for over 2 years that I know of.  Neither has dropped an ounce of weight, but they sure are committed to what they are doing.

My measuring tape is broken.
Jul 26, 2008

My tape measure has to be broken.  I have been walking for over a month now and it is still saying the same thing.  The scales on the other hand are saying I have lost 20 pounds.  Sometimes I think I see some results and other times I don't.  Physically I am doing fine with all the things I am doing to lose weight and shape up.  Mentally is another story.  I am finding myself looking for excuses not to excercise. I definetly have a bad attitude toward it right now.

We have cut down on the lengh we walk each day, with the temps hitting 105 degrees and the heat index higher than that, by the time we can get out to walk it is really to late to do 6 miles.  I will have the trampoline back up in a little over a week.  We are moving and will have room for it.  Think I will spend some time on it.  I am also going to look for other things to keep the boredom down.

The Invisible Woman
Jul 2, 2008
I have never had a claim to beauty and fame, but since we have been discussing age and larger sizes it has caused me to wonder when I actually became invisible. Was it when I had my two younger children and they consumed all my time to the point I didn't notice invisability or was it when I turned 40 and became societies idea of middle aged? I am not ready to be put out to pasture just yet. I love that commercial that says "I am not going to grow old gracefully. I am going to fight it every step of the way". That just decribes my personality to a T. To quote my favorite singer "What the heck happened" (edited for content). Unless a company is marketing an ageing product, women over 40 just seems to fall off the face of the earth. Check all those emails you get from companies that are trying to sell you cosmetics and/or clothes. None of them are geared toward older women, because to them you are invisable, you don't have what it takes anymore to sell their products, but they are sure encouraging you to still buy what they are selling.

Just one of those days
Jul 1, 2008
I have just had one of those days today. For awhile I thought it was going to be stroke time. To start I went all the way to the bank on an empty tank of gas, just to get there and realize I had left my ID in my other purse. I work for a school system and get paid once a month and when it's payday I am always down to nothing. I go back home and Thank God I make it back to the bank withdraw some cash I need for bills and then go to the store use my bank card and it comes up, not approved contact lender. I call the bank and find out things are messed up. There is always something going on with this bank. Several people I know have already moved their accounts due to this. I always say I am, but things will go ok for awhile and then bam it hits again. I get back home and start calling all the places I was suppose to be making payments at today. People can be so nice and friendly when you are always there on time or before time to make a payment and the one time you can't the attitude changes. This I could understand if I only had been doing this a couple of months, but I am working on 2 years of making timely payments. I think my hair actually turned a lot grayer than it was yesterday.

MY WAY
Jun 30, 2008
I am a beginner at trying to get into shape and one thing I have figured out is that I am going to have to do this my way or fail at it.
This is not to say that I don't read articles or take advice about it.

I am not giving up everything, some of it I don't think I will ever be able to give up totally. Some things I am trying to replace. Coco-Cola is my coffee, so giving this up in the mornings is just not going to happen anytime soon. I have however replaced quite a few of the cokes I drink all day long with water. It is an accomplishment for me to actually choose water over a coke. I have given myself one day a week to be my old self and have what I want period. This includes brownies (my fav). Salads are great, but even with tuna added to them they don't have a lot of staying power. Last night after I went to bed I was so hungry that I ended up getting something fast to eat and that wasn't a good thing. Now I am working on a solution to this.

Excercise is great, but I am not going to try for to much to fast. To much to soon would set me up for failure. I walk at least 5 days a week, if I don't walk the 6th day it is because I have went swimming and done water exercises. My goal for now is to eliminate fat, when I have adjusted to what I am doing now I will add more sculpting excercises.

This won't work for everyone, that is why I titled this MY WAY.

One Week of Excercise!
Jun 21, 2008
Today marks one week of excercise for me! I was going to up my 3 miles to 5 miles tonight, but due to lack of communication it happened last night. I got home at 8:20 from softball playoffs and the friend I walk with comes by my house around 8:10. She knows if my truck isn't here that I didn't make it home in time and goes on with the walk. We walk a circle so I jumped in my walking shoes, grabbed the dog and took off the opposite way intending to meet up with her. I did finally meet up with her when she was a mile into the walk, she had laid down to rest a few and had fallen asleep. Never even thought about calling her.

I have been really trying to keep my butt and stomach tight when walking and my abs are actully responding to this better than crunches and boy do my butt muscles ache at the end. Crunches are in the plan, but right now I am just going to do kindergarten before I try first grade.

My appetite has reduced. I have been taking sudafed for allergies, but the pharmacist told me the dose is so low that other affects are minimal. I have been taking fish oil omega 3 which is suppose to help reduce your appetite also.

The hurdle I overcame this week was no natchos at the game. This may seem small, but since I really look forward to them at games it is a big step for me. I had a small bag of popcorn instead.

Virtual Makeovers
Jun 17, 2008
I tried the virtual make-overs today. It was a lot of fun. I learned a few things too, like how just a few highlights in the hair can make a really big difference or how the wrong hair color can make you look awful. I also got some perspective on where to apply blush, it's easy to read about doing it, but for me a little more difficult to get right. I have one I call the virtual mug shot. I also decided that I might just try some of the new contacts on the market. I use to wear them all the time and then one day they just stopped being comfortable for me. I heard about a new kind that moisturize themselves. I would love to have the lasic surgery done, one day I might even have the extra money for it.

Shapeing up
Jun 16, 2008
I started excercising! I am considering Saturday, June 14, 2008 as my official start date. I have been doing some here and there, but this is really the date I committed to it. I am walking 3 miles a night (except for softball nights), I am riding a bike once a day with my daughter, started this yesterday and made a whole 10 minutes. lol. This doesn't discourage me though because I have been doing the same thing swimming laps at the pool and everytime I get a little further I feel great about it.

I am also making healthier food choices. I love coca-cola and will never give it up entirely, but I am cutting back on it and replacing it with flavored waters (I can't stand plain water) or vitamin waters. These may not be as good for me as plain ole water, but they still hydrate me. I am using brown rice and wheat pastas instead of tradional pastas and white rice. Instead of giving up things I like I am cutting back, I think it is discouraging to give up everything you have always liked.

I am not looking for overnight success, but I can tell things are already going on. I actually sleep better and although my stress level is still high right now I can see a difference in this to.
