I am many things, but “morning person” is certainly not one of them. I like to stay up late (late!), writing and working on projects, so I have develop a thorough knowledge of strategies that battle the “morning puffy eyes” situation. Feel free to throw in your own methods—I am all ears (or eyes, as it were). By the way, I’m not even going to bother putting “get more sleep” on the list, since we all know we would if we could.
Putting cold things on my face is at the top of the “de-puff” list. Actually, I just read an interview with actress Selma Blair, where she mentioned that to combat puffiness in the morning, she takes an ICE COLD SHOWER. I am not quite that brave, especially first thing in the morning. However….
--Frozen teething rings: This one I’ve been doing since high school, when one of the AP classes I was taking started meeting during “zero period,” which started (not a joke) at 6:45 a.m. Freeze those little round teething rings you use for baby, and put them on your eyes for 15 minutes first thing in the morning (try not to fall back asleep while you’re doing this). Ice cubes also work, but are a little harder to manage.
--Cold Eye Cream: No matter what your favorite brand of eye cream (I’ve listed a few below that I like), I’ve found that they all work better (and are much more soothing) when they live in the fridge. No kidding. For my money, I would take Clarins Eye Contour Gel, Neutrogena Anti-Oxidant Age reverse eye cream (which also smells really good), or Olay Regenerist eye, although I’ve used the “cold eye gel” trick with every type I’ve ever used, and they’re all good.
A word on cucumber slices: I never got into this one, except at the spa during a massage. It does work, but I don’t really like cutting them up, nor do I love the lingering smell of cucumber. But, hey—if this one is # 1 on your list, more power to you. Anything to get past the puff!
Any others I’m missing? I’m pretty sure someone is going to mention Preparation H at this point….

Ewww. I had a suite mate in college who used Preparation H around her eyes. It seemed to work, but I'm joining the vote for ice cubes. I like to wash my face in icewater. It is surprisingly refreshing, but can't take it on my entire body.
Don't have a problem with eye puffiness most of the time. I do fight sleep at night just like a baby, knowing I am going to pay for it the next morning.
Ice cubes are my best friend in the mormings. I grab one, wet it and do circular motions around my entire eye area. Also my eye gels live in the frig and feel oh, so cooling and soothing on my puffy, tired eyes. Haven't done the Preparation H treatment in a very long time.
