One Week of Excercise!
Jun 21, 2008
Today marks one week of excercise for me! I was going to up my 3 miles to 5 miles tonight, but due to lack of communication it happened last night. I got home at 8:20 from softball playoffs and the friend I walk with comes by my house around 8:10. She knows if my truck isn't here that I didn't make it home in time and goes on with the walk. We walk a circle so I jumped in my walking shoes, grabbed the dog and took off the opposite way intending to meet up with her. I did finally meet up with her when she was a mile into the walk, she had laid down to rest a few and had fallen asleep. Never even thought about calling her.

I have been really trying to keep my butt and stomach tight when walking and my abs are actully responding to this better than crunches and boy do my butt muscles ache at the end. Crunches are in the plan, but right now I am just going to do kindergarten before I try first grade.

My appetite has reduced. I have been taking sudafed for allergies, but the pharmacist told me the dose is so low that other affects are minimal. I have been taking fish oil omega 3 which is suppose to help reduce your appetite also.

The hurdle I overcame this week was no natchos at the game. This may seem small, but since I really look forward to them at games it is a big step for me. I had a small bag of popcorn instead.

The thing to remember during targeting weight loss is that it's 60% diet and 40% exercise.

If you can do low impact walking for longer periods of time rather than doing shorter stuff that is harder, you will see results faster. I suggest buying a heart rate monitor for your walks and workouts and target lower heart rates for longer duration.

When I train for endurance events where weight loss is critical I have found that I get the best results if I do a workout that doesn't really feel hard but I do it until I get happy which is when the endorphins kick in. Those endorphins mean that the body has started burning fat.
